The Month of February is

Tattletale’s
Pennies/Coin Campaign
BOOKS! BOOKS! BOOKS!
Beginning Monday, February 1st Alderney School will be taking part in ‘Tattletale’s
Pennies/Coin Campaign’. This is a way to raise money for the school so that the
school may purchase books. For the month of February, the staff and students
can bring in pennies and place them in a bucket in their classroom. At the end
of the month the money will be collected and given to ‘Tattletales Pennies/Coin
Campaign’. Tattletales in turn will give Alderney School exactly what we
collect in coins, in book certificates. Tattletales will also be collecting
money for all participating schools. This money will be divided evenly among
these schools. Example: Alderney raises $250, then they will receive $250 in
book certificates plus the extra monies raised by Tattletales.
Tattletale’s is also having a sponsorship
program. If you have a business or know of someone who would like to sponsor
Alderney, our school will receive the sponsored amount back in book
certificates. Attached is a copy of the Sponsor Form with more information.
FUN, FUN, FUN
To spice things up, we will have a ‘penny
switch’ game from February
22 to 26. For these five days, the teachers will
compare penny jars after school to see who has the most pennies that day. A certificate will be given
at the end of the day to the class who has the most pennies! Here’s how the game works:
Ten minutes before recess, students will
have the opportunity to visit other classrooms and put in either a nickel or dime into that class’ container. If they
put a dime in, they will receive 10 pennies back to put in their class
bucket. At the end of the day when the
pennies are counted, the silver coins will not be added to the class total. Therefore, that will help some
classes get ahead! It’s all in fun and is just another way we can raise our
total so we can get more books! When we send in the school’s money, the silver
coin will
be counted
towards our school total as well. Those schools who achieved the greatest
success last year were the schools that played the ‘penny switch’ game.
This is a worthwhile project which will
benefit all of the students here at Alderney School!
We look forward to your support!
Thanking you in
advance,
Mrs. Thistle and Mr. McIntyre
